Marketing Manager

Hutch Rec is in search of a professional that embraces collaboration, innovation, and continuous process improvement as the Marketing Manager, a position that is part of our Hutch Rec leadership team.

Location: Hutchinson, Kansas // Hutch Rec Downtown, 17 E. 1st

Status: Full-time (40 hrs/week); Exempt

Starting Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000 annually with benefits (health insurance, vacation and sick leave, retirement plan)

Reports to: Executive Director, Hutchinson Recreation Commission

Summary: Responsible for assuring adequate promotions, publicity, and marketing for all programs, events, and initiatives; in addition to implementing the organization’s overall look and brand in the community through social media management, website management, graphic design and marketing materials, and other marketing of programs, events, and initiatives.

Qualifications: Comprehensive knowledge of current marketing platforms and trends. Must be proficient in design platforms such as Canva, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, as well as with email and website platforms. Demonstrates efficiency in time management, ability to plan ahead, and organize responsibilities on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis. Shows strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills, as well as the ability to work independently and to work courteously and effectively with division directors/manager and the public. Demonstrates ability to work in collaboration with community partner. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for certain events/programs.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) in Marketing, Communications, or related field, and one to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Part-Time Education Assistant

Dillon Nature Center

This part-time position at Dillon Nature Center will assist the Education Coordinator with nature center’s educational and recreational programming. This position involves conducting outdoor and indoor environmental education programs focused on the ecology of Central Kansas. It will also involve helping with recreational activities such as canoeing and team building.

Individuals must have experience working with groups of children. They must be a good communicator, and a background in natural resources, biology, and/or science education is desirable. He/she must be willing to learn and should have a genuine interest in the conservation of our natural resources. The Education Assistant must be available during weekdays and some weekends, on a schedule that is mutually agreed upon with the Education Coordinator. Most of the hours would be in the months of April, May, September, and October when school visitation is at its highest.

The number of hours per week will vary and be scheduled in cooperation with the Education Coordinator. Starting pay is $10/hour, depending on experience.

Part-Time Front Desk Attendant

Dillon Nature Center

This part-time position at Dillon Nature Center is responsible for greeting visitors and customers on the phone as well as in person, providing them with information about DNC as needed. Front Desk Attendants handle gift shop sales and take registrations for Hutch Rec activities, as well as tend to facility rentals and assist with various clerical and light maintenance duties as needed.

Individuals must be able to work well with the public. Past work in customer service or retail sales is desirable. Hours are generally weekday afternoons/evenings and weekends. Starting salary is $7.25/hour with possible future annual raises based upon the performance of duties.

Sports/Tournaments

Hutch Rec is continually looking for youth sports officials (umpires, referees), site supervisors, tournament supervisors, and concessions/gate admissions for tournaments. Staff will train officials and supervisors.

  • Umpires

    Pay Range: $15-$50/game for umpires

    Age: 14 yrs and older

    Hours: League games Mondays through Thursday evenings in May through July; Tournament games on weekends in April through August

    Qualifications: Umpire certification, training, and/or experience preferred; must be able to deal with coaches and parents in a professional manner and must be able to work various extreme weather elements (heat, wind, etc). Will train as needed.

  • Field Supervisors

    Pay Range: $9-$12/hours

    Age: 18 years and older

    Hours: League games Mondays through Thursday evenings in May through July; Tournament games on weekends in April through August

    Qualifications: Must be able to deal with coaches and parents in a professional manner and supervise fields and umpires. Will train as needed.

  • Scorekeepers

    Pay Range: $20/game

    Age: 16 years and older

    Hours: Scorekeepers are needed for PG Baseball Events only throughout the summer, up to 3-4 baseball weekend tournaments on various weekends from April through July.

    Qualifications: Must be computer friendly and prefer to know the basic rules and knowledge of baseball. PG Baseball reps will train upon hiring.

  • Concessions Supervisor – Sports Complexes

    Pay Range: $10-$12/hour

    Age: 21 yrs and older

    Hours: Available for league games on weeknights and/or tournaments on weekends from April through August

    Qualifications: Experience in food service preferred; must be able to work a variety of hours during the day (weekends) and evening (weeknights); will be asked to open or close concessions as well as take inventory and make cash deposits. Must be dependable and have transportation to and from work, as well as strong customer service skills and the ability to manage 5-10 employees on a shift.

    Qualifications: Prefer experience in food service, but not required (will train as needed); must be able to work a variety of hours during the day (weekends) and evenings (weeknights); must be dependable and have transportation to and from work; must have strong customer service skills.

    Hours: Available for league games on weeknights and/or tournaments on weekends from April through August

    Qualifications: Must be flexible with hours and days available; work in both heat and cold temperatures; knowledge in field maintenance preferred, but will train; watering fields, picking up trash, marking fields and preparing for games; must be dependable.

    Hours: Must be available to work weekend tournaments from April through August

    Qualifications: Must be able to work on weekends and some weeknights; strong customer service skills and be able to help elderly and disabled with questions; must be dependable. Employees will take admissions and handle cash; provide rides and answer questions from spectators and visitors.
