Policies

To Register:

Registration for our activities can be done in person at any Hutch Rec facility or online at hutchrec.com. We do not accept phone-in registrations.

  • Online (no added online fees when registering online)
  • Mail or walk in: In-person at any Hutch Rec facility or customers may mail in their registrations to our downtown office at 17 E. 1st, Hutchinson, KS, 67501. Download Registration Form
Cancellations:

If a program or class is canceled, we will notify you with a postponement day or issue you a refund.

Refund Policy:

Your satisfaction is important to us. Due to program costs, including instructors, supplies, and to help maintain our class minimum, we ask for your cooperation when requesting a refund. Our policy is to provide a full refund or credit – your choice – to anyone who gives us three (3) business days notification prior to the start of class. After that, no refund will be given. Refunds are not given for gift certificates, punch cards, season passes, or membership. Trips, special events, and facility rentals are excluded in our refund policy, as they each have different cancellation policies.

Program Scholarships:

Hutch Rec provides scholarships for youth in need due to economic hardship. Scholarships are not available with online registrations – you must register in person to receive the scholarship. For school-aged children: We ask that you bring in free/reduced lunch paperwork or a school-issued letter to any of our facilities prior to registering for an activity. For preschool-aged children: We ask that you bring your child’s state-issued Medical Card to any of our facilities prior to registering for an activity. Paperwork and/or Medical Cards must be brought with you each time you register for an activity or an event – we do not keep this information on file.

Wait Lists:

Participants who wish to register for activities where capacity enrollment has been reached will go on a wait list. Once space becomes available, participants will be notified.

Public Speakers:

A member of Hutch Rec’s staff would be happy to speak to your club, organization, school, civic group, or other events about our recreation opportunities in our community. Please call (620) 663-6179 for more information or e-mail aconkling@hutchrec.com.

Photo & Video Policy:

Our staff and hired freelance photographers may take pictures and/or videos of you or your child participating in our activities and programs. These photographs and/or videos could be used in future publications, social media, our website, and/or other marketing items. If you do not wish to have your photo and/or video published, please inform the photographer and indicate on the waive on our registration form.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • When is Hutch Rec's Activity Guide published?

    Our Activity Guides come out three times each year. Activity Guides are mailed to Hutchinson residents, along with any individual on our mailing list. If you would like to receive a guide via mail, email Amy Conkling at aconkling@hutchrec.com. Here is an estimated timeline of when the Activity Guide is published:

    • Spring/Summer Activity Guide: Mid-March
    • Fall Activity Guide: Early August
    • Winter Activity Guide: Early December
  • If a class or trip is full, can I be put on a waiting list?

    Yes, you can be put on a waiting list with no money down.  You will be notified if space becomes available.

  • What is Hutch Rec’s refund policy if I am unable to attend a class or program?

  • Are refunds given for memberships, value cards or punch cards?

    No.

  • When will I receive my refund check?

    Checks are written and mailed the 15th and the 30th of the month.

  • Do you offer a satisfaction guarantee?

    Yes, if after attending any Hutch Rec program or class you are not fully satisfied, contact us immediately in writing.  We will provide a full refund or give you credit to use for another activity.

  • What is the trip and special event refund policy?

    Trips and special events have their own refund procedures.  Check with the program superintendent or director for details.

  • Are classes pro-rated if I join late?

    No.  The full fee is required.

  • Do you offer scholarships for those in need?

    Hutchinson Recreation Commission provides scholarships for youth in need due to economic hardship.  The following item(s) are required:

    • For school-aged children: A copy of the free/reduced lunch paperwork OR a type-written note from the school (with proper letterhead) stating the child qualified for free/reduced lunches with a signature.
    • For younger children: A state-issued medical card
